Ladies Who Lunch

Today Becks celebrated her Mimi's birthday - Happy Birthday, Michelle! Then she rode out with mom to visit AutoTrader.com. So many of my co-workers came to meet her, and Miss Carol even have her her 10:30 bottle. She did great! We loved visiting with the communication, marketing and community relations teams! And then it was off to Nordstrom with Leslie to meet Stacy and Lola for lunch and catching up - a great day! Now we are home and we are both exhausted - our first "ITP" outing went well - woo!

Beckett Goes to the Pediatrician

Today, Beckett is exactly two months old, so naturally we just got back from her two-month appointment at the pediatrician. She did GREAT - I am so proud of her! She weighed in at 11 pounds and 13 oz., a 3 pound 12 oz. weight gain from her two-week appointment. And her height is now 24", 3.5" more than her two-week appointment. She is in the 95th percentile in length and the 90th percentile in weight - strong, healthy girl!

The doctor said Beckett has a wonderful temperament - calm, quiet and smiley! LOVE IT. I promised him she wasn't showing off. :) All was good and I was happily snapping pictures until the nurse gave her the shots, then I held her little hands and I mean poor girl went from calm and white to screaming and red in under 1 second! I felt so bad for her. She just looked stunned like WHY did this lady do that?! So mean! She calmed down quickly though and then we headed out and I put her down for her 3 p.m. nap and she's still sleeping - poor little bug!

We didn't learn much else at the pediatrician. Her blocked tear duct is all better, she is eating the right amount (6 oz. 5 times a day), the spit up is normal since she's "a happy spitter," and she is cleared for being around the public now - yay! We did show him the birthmark we found and he confirmed that that's what it is - no cause for alarm. And he found these things called "Mongolian spots" on her lower back. I'll have to take a picture, although I had never seen them in our normal light here at home (vs. their intense exam light at the doctor's office).

K - going to make her next bottle - so glad we got that over with! She won't go back until her 4-month wellness appointment assuming, and hoping, all goes well until then!

Becks Meets the Lengels & The Cardens

On Saturday, April 6, Beckett got to meet two of our absolute favorite couples: the Cardens and the Lengels! We had beautiful weather so we got to spend most of their visit outdoors, and both Mary and Teresa got to feed Beckett bottles. Becks was on her best behavior and only spit up on Teresa once. hehe The Lengels brought her an adorable set of her birthstone earrings, and the Cardens got a beautiful summer outfit - Beckett is such a lucky lady!!

Week 8: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 50 (3/30):  Big yawn
Day 51 (3/31): Big eye face
Day 52 (4/1):  Sweet girl enjoying warm weather clothes while it lasts
Day 53 (4/2): Little smirk on change pad before bedtime
Day 54 (4/3): Another shot in her new 0 - 3 month size jammies before bedtime
Day 55 (4/4): Little smile in another new pair of jams at bedtime
Day 56 (4/5): Sweet baby face after bath
Our baby girl is 8 weeks old!! What?! She is officially two months old tomorrow, on February 8, and we have her big 2-month pediatrician appointment where she'll get more shots and where they'll hopefully tell us that she's gained weight, is super healthy, and is good to start meeting the public!

On Monday we moved her to the '8 - 16 week schedule' - which means we dropped the middle-of-the night feeding. She wasn't quite 8 weeks yet, but we felt like she was ready based on Moms on Calls list of 'How to Tell When Your Baby is Ready to Move to the Next Schedule.' Yes, they make it easy. LOL Anyway, the first night she slept from 8:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. - AMAZING. The next night she made it to 3:30 a.m. Then the rest of the week she made it to 5 a.m., and this morning she made it to 6:15 a.m. So it's going well!

Likes
  • glowworm toy
  • opening and closing her fists
  • rolling on her side
  • pushing against you with her feet
  • batting and kicking at the toys on her activity mat
  • meeting new people - she did a great job meeting family and friends, and is patient with older kiddos as they meet her
  • her change pad table - she used to hate it and hate having her diaper changed; we don't know if it's because it's warmer now or what but she doesn't seem to mind it and, in fact, we get most of her smiles during diaper changes!
Dislikes
  • sun (direct sunlight startles her right now!)
  • lying down flat after eating (who does?)
  • spitting up (which she does so much - poor thing! She's definitely in the 'happy spitter' category per Moms on Call, but she still gets up set when she spits up a lot through her nose - she makes a MAJOR 'foo foo face')
This week she became a lot more vocal about what she wants. You can now very easily tell when she has air in her (gets squirmy and agitated), or when her diaper needs to be changed (sudden, surprised, short cry out). It's making it easier for us to meet her needs which is nice as before we were kind of just guessing (let's burp her? let's change her?).  This was a really big week as we transitioned to the new schedule of 5 cycles vs. 7 cycles and we're so proud of how well she's taken to it. Looking forward to another wonderful week with our Baby Beckett!!
