Week 45: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 309 (12/14); me and sweet girl made it through our first tough week together - both still happy - yay!
Day 310 (12/15); Bath time is still, and may always be, her favorite time of the day! You get some MAJOR smiles out of her at bath - so sweet
Day 311 (12/16); Beckett was visited by Tyson and his girlfriend! She loved seeing them and playing
Day 312 (12/17); Beckett stands up against her baby gates ALL the time, especially now that the beautiful Christmas tree Devon decorated is on the other side!
Day 313 (12/18); Beckett had so much fun at the gift exchange with 11 of her little friends! She loved Estella's lawn mower!
Day 314 (3/19); We normally play downstairs, but do keep a few toys in her room and she discovered this pull toy the other day and loves playing with the little pig
Day 315 (12/20); one of her favorite hang out spots - the pantry area by our kitchen! She'll hang out here and pull up on the little stool. She always has a toy with her when she travels - this is a little Sesame book from her friends Miss Josie and Roman
Likes:
  • antibiotics; baby girl was diagnosed with ear infections on Friday - her first sickness! :( She LOVES taking medicine though - she opens right up for amoxicilin and tylenol as though it's a bottle - yay!
  • wrapping paper, ribbons, tape - she enjoyed the process and playing with the bags!
  • one toy at a time; her big thing is carrying one toy and keeping it with her while she pulls up on everything, crawls, etc.
  • her baby gates - she pulls up on them and checks out the Christmas Tree
  • her gym friends - I really see her face light up when we go to the gym and walk in and she sees faces of the staff and other kiddos she has grown to know
  • feeding herself - she is pretty much on formula and finger foods only (no more purees) - she loves to feed herself fruits like bananas, apples and avocado; beans including black beans and green beans; chicken, turkey, eggs, bacon, cheese - she doesn't really turn much away but grapes and pineapples!
  • her hair - it's getting much longer (like noticeably - especially in the back - baby mullet!); she twirls it a lot and plays with it. It's adorable, unless she has 'egg hands' and ends up with dried food in her hair - gross!
Dislikes:
  • runny nose - haattteeesss it
  • fever (I hate it but am SO glad she was hot so it prompted me to take her to the doctor)
  • the usual: clothes changes, diaper changes, etc.
  • the nose frieda or 'snot sucker' - she REALLY hates when we suck it out but smiles afterwards since she can breathe and all!
Her Week in a Nutshell:
  • Saturday: Day with Dad while Mom celebrated Aunt Devon's birthday; family movie night: It's a Wonderful Life
  • Sunday: Family Day in; wrapped Christmas gifts
  • Monday: Infant Room at Gym with Miss Neecy & mom; Visit from Tyson and his girlfriend
  • Tuesday: Not feeling well so stayed home and made cupcakes with mom
  • Wednesday: Gift Exchange with Playgroup - Beckett played with 11 friends and rode with friend Abby and Miss Hanna
  • Thursday: Infant Room at Gym with Miss Neecy
  • Friday: Visit from Monica, Sharon & Baby Peyton; woke up from nap sick - surprise visit to pediatrician for first non-well visit; diagnosed with double ear infections - poor baby girl! Went to Kroger with Mom to get prescription - while waiting we picked up ingredients for more cupcakes and for sugar cookies

Week 44: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 302 (12/7); happy girl in her Auburn gear on SEC day! Me and Becks took Austin to the marta stop for the game, then did a bit of shopping and watched the game together - Auburn won, again - woo!
Day 303 (12/8); Bathtime Beckett playing with her hairbrush! She is teething bad and really putting things toward her back teeth - we're pretty sure her molars are coming in - eek!
Day 304 (12/9); happy girl pulling up on the couch with her water bottle - a true favorite toy!
Day 305 (12/10); her teething face - not quite sad, not happy either - just uncomfortable but there is nothing we can do to help - poor girl!
Day 306 (12/11); Happy girl eats her peas & pears - she is still taking purees... but I can tell she is resisting them more and much and much prefers feeding herself!
Day 307 (12/12); playing with clothes from our closet - she loves to play in our closet and touch the different fabrics. Mostly she likes the door stopper haha
Day 308 (12/13); hanging in her pack & play making her teething face (biting inside of gums) - she LOVES to stand up in here and in her crib.
Likes:
  • standing up all the time on anything
  • eating all by herself (not big on being fed anymore)
  • avocados are fast favorites, as are eggs
Dislikes:
  • the usual: being confined in any situation whether it's for diaper or clothing changes, the car seat for car rides, etc. - she wants to be free all. the. time!
  • noises that didn't used to bother her - tape being pulled off a box, the mixer, the blowdryer, etc. She calms down but it definitely scares her :(
Her Week in a Nutshell:
  • Saturday: Visited Perimeter mall; drove Dad to marta; spent the day with Mom and watched Auburn win the SEC championship (well, she watched the first half)
  • Sunday: Family Day with Mom & Dad; rewatched the SEC game
  • Monday: Visit to new gym's Infant Room with Miss Gretchen; bath time with Dad while Mom had Ornament Exchange
  • Tuesday: Infant Room with Miss Gretchen and day with Mom while Dad had a Client Christmas Dinner
  • Wednesday: Infant Room with Miss Gretchen at mid-morning; visit to Staples & the Chiropractor that afternoon with Mom; bathtime with Dad!
  • Thursday: Rainy day in with Mom; Pediatrician for flu booster shot that afternoon; evening with Mom while Dad had another Client Dinner
  • Friday: Infant Room with Miss Gretchen at mid-morning; Visit from Miss Sharon and Baby Peyton that afternoon
This was a LONG week. I say that because it's just tough when Austin is gone all day. Tough for him as the days are long, tough for Beckett as she doesn't get to see him at all and tough for me as I'm like this. day. will. never. end. Once in a while? Cool! But Saturday was solo as we couldn't get a babysitter for the SEC championship game. Then Tuesday was solo... and Thursday... and Friday. The back-to-back days with teething, busy baby were tough - the weekend couldn't come quickly enough to give me and baby girl some company besides each other! SO, was it a bad week? No, just tough and long. She is a sweet, 10-month-old girl! But at this age it also means she's mobile, quick, busy, into everything and it's just tough to keep an eye on her every second sometimes!

Christmas Shot of Happy Becks

Starting to download, edit and catch up on photos on the blog! Also need to focus on the upcoming ski trip - we leave Saturday morning - eek! In the meantime, here is a sweet shot of Beckett from early Christmas morning - she didn't even have on her Christmas jams but did have on these adorable gray and white polar bear pjs from her Mimi - so sweet.

Beckett's First Christmas Gift Exchange

One of the girls in the mom's group, Kari, hosted a Christmas Gift Exchange for the kiddos! We got Kari's daughter Estella's name, and picked out Melissa and Doug puzzles for her - a favorite of Beckett's! Since she's a bit older we didn't do the big knob but instead did the small peg. Beckett's name was pulled by Hanna/Abby and they went all out giving her a toy camera, a six-book box set and a Fisher Price activity puzzle! She's asleep now but it's out and ready for her when she wakes at 3 - yay!

The party was great with 12 kids and moms in attendance! There was so much food, too! We brought 2 dozen mini cupcakes - white with white frosting in red/white polka dot wrappers with red and green sprinkles - yay! And we carpooled - Hanna/Abby picked us up and the girls did great in the car riding in the back together - adorbs! Here are a few pics I grabbed - you can tell Beckett had a great time!
Beckett loved this tambourine - clearly!
Sweet boys shared so good with her!
Precious babies playing and sharing
Apparently we must get Beckett a lawnmower - she LOVED Estella's!
Becks and Bestie Harper lookin' all fancy!
Group shot! All 12 babies in one frame - winning!
Kari had us at her beautiful home - this was the basement with a huge play area for the kiddos - they were in heaven!
This train was a big hit - lots of kids took little rides!

Beckett Gets Sad When People Leave

Last Friday Sharon and baby Peyton came to visit. We had a great time, although we had a Mommy Fail and Beckett Fail.

Mommy Fail: for the first time EVER I didn't put a diaper on her. Seriously. I went in at 3 p.m. after her nap and was changing her diaper/clothes and Sharon got here and I didn't put a new diaper on - just skipped that step and put on clothes! So needless to say, later at 4 p.m. when she was in her high chair she was being weird/cranky. I went to change her diaper and realized she was wet and wasn't wearing a diaper - eek! I apologized to her  profusely - she was humiliated! :( j/k kinda....

Then we had Beckett Fail: she fell. She doesn't fall anymore and has been getting more and more bold. She was pulling up on a chair and slipped on her pants and fell down. She was so upset and I of course felt awful but I know these things will happen even when I'm on her.  I hate it though but I know she won't learn if I don't let her try but ugh! Parenting is hard. :(

So ANYWAY, after Mommy fail and Beckett fail we still had a good visit and when Sharon & Peyton went to leave Beckett was sad and didn't want them to go - she kept going over to visit when Sharon was packing up Peyton - ADORABLE! She is getting more interested in newborns -she showed significantly more interest in Peyton this visit then in last visits - she was fascinated and kept trying to rock her car seat and bouncer. :)

A Visit from Tyson

Tyson had taken a vacation day today and he and his friend were going up to the outlets so he called me to see if they could come visit. So sweet! They came over from 3 to 4 this afternoon and got lots of play time with Beckett, who had had a rough nap due to snot nose but she sure perked up and showed off for them! So sweet of them to go out of their way to come by - enjoyed meeting his friend and seeing Beckett play with them - adorable! Here are a few pictures I snapped just before they headed out.

All smiles!
Wait a minute, you guys are leaving?
But I want you to stay - we'll have fun!
Okay, fine, I get it, you don't have kids and I'm coming on too strong!

Me and My Becks

Austin took these pics of me and sweet girl after bath last night. I love them so much - I just love seeing pictures of her and being like yes, she is that happy in person and it's captured on film - I love it and love her so much! Couldn't pick a favorite so here are 4! :)

Her First Flight

No, not on an airplane, although that is coming up quick! This is her first flight up our stairs. Yes. I realize it sounds crazy, but I have been looking into how to deal with stairs with kids and a lot say not to gate them off, make them off limits, etc. as this makes them either want to go there more or it scares them. Instead, you can teach them how to safely go down them (on their tummies with intensely close supervision) and up them. Once baby is crawling and pulling up, it's time, so I have been working with her on going down. On Thursday, Austin asked if she was ready to go up. I said sure, try it. Well Beckett went all the way up, from bottom to top, the first time! She loved it!

Our Little Egg Eater

SO glad Beckett likes eggs! I am enjoying beginning to transition her to "real" breakfast, lunch and dinner food and for me and Austin eggs are a MAJOR staple. I made her her first egg today (sans the white) and she ate it up never even making the 'gross-what-is-this' face. She followed it with a bowl of fruit purée - today was plums, mango and banana mixed with oats. She is becoming such a big girl!

Cheese with Peas

Big cheesy grin with a face covered in peas. (Unpictured: peas in hair and ears). Someone is not as interested in purees and is MUCH more interested in finger foods.

My Chompers

You can REALLY see my 4 top teeth in this bath time picture from last night! Mom and Dad are pretty sure my molars are coming in, too, as I'm really biting down hard in the back of my mouth and seem to be in pain - boo. I'm also not sleeping as well - no fun for anyone! I am 10 months old now, as of yesterday! Mom and Dad say i'm going to be walking soon as I'm showing ALL of the signs for walking - pulling up on furniture, cruising alongside it, walking behind toys and picking up dropped toys from standing.

Day 299 (12/4); Becks hanging in her diaper after making a HUGE mess with her solids haha
Day 300 (12/5); my super crawler; I had to put her on one side of the room and run away to get in place before she caught up to me - such a fast one and she loves to come to you when you call her - so sweet!
Day 301 (12/6); smiley Beckett enjoying her playdate with Harper and her mom Meghan -so fun to have them over - Harper is only 4 weeks older than Beckett and such a sweetie and so advanced, already walking!
Likes:
  • Her tunnel
  • Her new walker
  • Playing with Poppa Paul - they spent so much time together over Thanksgiving and she seemed to really enjoy him and her Mimi
  • Her glowworm (especially having it in her room at bedtime!)
  • Walking alongside the couch while squealing at her poodles
  • Santa
  • Having visitors - she seemed to really enjoy having the Wednesday Santa Photo Shoot Playdate and time with Harper Friday at our house!
  • Babies - she was pretty fascinated by Peyton - not sure if she knew exactly what Peyton was but it made noises and moved a little so she was in
  • Her window - I pull the blinds up in this window in our living room and she loves to stand up by it and look outside and bang on the window sill
  • crawling over to mom when she has a dirty diaper - good to see she knows how to fix that problem now!
Dislikes:
  • slugs - she tried to eat one and I had to call poison control - she was fine! But she was definitely disgusted by its taste... not nearly as disgusted as I was.
  • being away from Mom - she is definitely continuing to show a bit of separation anxiety
  • people playing with her toys and not letting her play too - she gets so excited when she has a friend play with her stuff, but when she goes over and tries to play with them and they block her out she pouts!
  • the usual - having her diaper changed, having her clothes changed (especially overhead) and being overtired

Playdate with Miss Harper

Beckett's friend Harper and her mom Meghan came overt to visit today! The girls had so much fun playing! Harper is 4 weeks older than Beckett and always shows us her new skills. Today she was walking - OMG! Such a doll. The girls played the most with the walker, but they got into everything else, too, especially the ball monster and they even had some tunnel time. They also ate lunch together - adorable! Two babies at the table eating their solids - cuties! I loved catching up with Meghan, too - it's so fun having babies so close in age and being able to get ideas and advice from her is invaluable. Can't believe our girls are going to be 1 in just a couple months!
Beckett squealed when they arrived - so cute!
Beckett enjoyed showing Harper all of her toys and books!
The girls seemed to both want to play with the same toy at the same time - definitely made for a few tears!

I love that we accidentally color coordinated! The girls both wore long tunic/dresses and leggings - fabulous!
