More Consignment Sale Success

Last night me, Monica and Sharon met at my house, then drove to Chanel's to meet her and Josie and Natasha, then caravanned to a consignment sale to meet Ashley and Sarah. Great group of mommies who had SO much success at the sale. I spent $44 ($49 including my $5 donation to the church) and got all of the items below for Beckett.

Not only did I have so much fun at the sale and think that I got some great deals, I had a blast with the girls - with Mon and Sharon during our hour round trip in the car, with all the girls in the 30-minute waiting line to get in, and afterwards at Steak & Shake - never a dull moment when you get 7 moms coming off a consignment sale high after 9:30 p.m. when we're all usually asleep.
7 tired mommies at Steak & Shake celebrating our fun consignment sale finds! So fun to have everyone together!
Adorable Monica with her milkshake she got for John haha Can't wait to meet her baby boy!
I didn't get home until 11 p.m. but it was so worth it. Can't wait for the next sale in August - they are twice a year and this is my second one - LOVE them!

Melissa and Doug Puzzle - $3 $10 on Amazon

Fisher Price Little People Dollhouse - $5 $43 on Amazon (I got mine empty though so I'll need to get furniture/dolls!)

HALSALL - MATTEL Fisher Price My 1st Dolls House

Fisher Price Little People School Bus - $3.50 $18 on Amazon

Fisher Price Little People Town Center - $5 $40 on Amazon

Fisher Price Little People Chariot - $3.50 $15 on eBay (can't find the older model below I got anywhere else - the new one is different colors!)

Fisher Price Picnic Shape Sorter - $4 $16 on Amazon

Fisher Price Tea Set - $4  $19 on Amazon

Mega Blocks - 80 piece - $3 $18 on Amazon

O Ball Rainstick Rattle - $2.50 $11 on Amazon

O Ball standard- $1  $7.50 on Amazon No, Becks doesn't really need another oball but I was looking for Monica's son and could only find pink so I went for it!

Munchkin Caterpillar Spillers Bath Toy Stackers - $1.50 $6 on diapers.com

Alex Rub a Dub Stickers for the Tub - $3.50 for 2 sets which are $13 on Amazon for the transportation pack and $19 on eBay for the letters/numbers/shapes pack

And I like this easy idea for turning them into magnets. Would maybe leave numbers and letters for bath and then do transportation for magnets or vice versa (or neither and just leave all as bath toys!).

EduShape Foam Blocks Floating House $2.50 $20 on Wayfair

Only item I couldn't find a price for online:

Caterpillar Noise Maker - $2

Adding this up, with tax, would have been around $280... but I only spent $49 - eeee! I love great deals like this, especially at this age when I don't know what she's going to be into yet. If I find she loves dollhouses, maybe later when she's older she can pick out a different one. Or if she gets really into blocks we can buy the fancy wooden ones. We'll see - for now this girl wants for nothing and I am so excited to see her enjoy these great finds!

Rough Day With Becks

Not her smiley self :(
During my workout yesterday they called me over the intercom at the gym, "Mrs. Kelly Martin to the child center." I had dropped Beckett off just 45 minutes ago, and never leave her for longer than an hour. Figured she must have a dirty diaper and ran down - nope, she was hysterically crying - huge tears, even though she was being held. I walked in and they handed her to me and she stopped crying immediately.... They were apologetic, said Beckett had done great the first 35 minutes, then when they did a shift change she got very upset to where they felt I would want to know. I was of course glad they called and we talked about it being the teething, the coming off the Benadryl, or just the toddler separation anxiety that I have feared would surface. We left the gym and she was fine the rest of the day so long as we stayed very close together.

That night we put her down as usual at 7:15ish and she was fine...until 8:30 when she started crying out, standing up, and then wailing. Austin took this one - she was crying so hard she couldn't catch her breath - he soothed her for a while and she calmed down and fell asleep in his arms, then in the crib. Poor girl! Thinking it was overtired/off Benadryl - she didn't seem to be in pain so we didn't do ibuprofen or anything. Today was a little rough, too - definitely now thinking it's separation anxiety and from what I am hearing/reading it's normal and healthy... Just challenging. Here is a pic I snagged of the monitor while anxiously seeing if Beckett would settle. We are going to continue monitoring her closely -  looking forward to a good day tomorrow - even if it's a rough one I'm glad I can be with her!
that is a little moon from her monitor :)

Beckett's turn for fun at the playground
Only her dad will hold her upside down over the shoulder - really, never Mom haha
Beckett smiled big on the bouncy horsie
And she smiled VERY big doing the slide with dad
She's  fearless for sure

Week 54: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 372 (12/15); playing with her favorite toy (my iPhone) in my favorite jams - they just look so precious on her!
Day 373 (12/16); getting her nighttime amoxicillin from daddy before bed
Day 374 (12/17); shy lady  bug playing by her window teething on a cord
Day 375 (12/18); Trying to get a shot of her in her chair - dad had to keep a hand on her!
Day 376 (12/19); Becks and mama at Valentine's Day party!
Day 377 (2/20); Becks loving the outdoor area at the gym! She seriously didn't want to leave when I went to get her!
Day 378 (2/21); just climbing onto mom and dad's bed... nothing to see here!
Likes:

  • Climbing, including using her riding toy as a stool to get up on the couch, and taking the dogs steps up to the bench and onto our bed - true stories!
  • outdoor area at the gym, including bubbles!
  • Miss Andrea - she was just so thrilled to see her at the house when she babysat and sad to leave her at the gym
  • curried chicken & steamed carrots; I thought she didn't like carrots much but turns out she just doesn't love them pureed or raw - steamed diced is her game
  • standing, at all times, with one object (preferably my iPhone)
  • her new xylophone toy from the Lims - it has a drum part, too, but so far she prefers the xylophone and teething on the drumsticks (or banging them together)
  • clapping - BIG into clapping this week
  • taking the pacifier off her new Stella doll (and putting it on her mouth or on mommy's)
  • taking medicine - she lights up when she sees you get amoxicillin out of the refrigerator
Dislikes:
  • hives - poor baby girl is just miserable and itchy and confused - feel so bad for her; she doesn't seem to love benadryl either (whereas all other medications have been 'treats'
Her Week in a Nutshell:
  • Saturday: Family day at home! Morning visit from Chanel & friend Henry
  • Sunday: family day; family walk; out with mom and dad for their 6th anniversary dinner!
  • Monday: Toddler room at gym
  • Tuesday: Toddler room at gym
  • Wednesday: Valentine's Day playdate at friend Jake's - rode with Chanel & friend Henry and fussed the whole way back (eek!); chiropractor with mom that afternoon
  • Thursday: Toddler room at gym - played outside and loved it!; bedtime with dad while Mom had a dinner with Sarah!
  • Friday: unexpected trip to pediatrician after waking up with hives; stayed in all day sleeping due to medication

Week 53: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 365 (2/8);  Beckett Grace at her 1st Birthday Party with Mom & Dad
Day 366 (2/9); Beckett testing out her new riding toy from the Mittelbronns - definite winner!
Day 367 (2/10); With Mom at 12-month-appointment - this is prior to shots - eek!
Day 368 (2/11); Beckett looking like a big girl enjoying her new play area! (and clearly annoyed at my distracting her to take a photo haha - you can also see a little bruise on her face - seems to go with the territory these days!
Day 369 (2/12); toothy girl (12 teeth!) playing in the den in her PJs - standard day! Loving the snowed in family time we're getting even with the cabin fever symptom
Day 370 (2/13); Beckett out in the backyard checking out the snow; note that I didn't say enjoying the snow as she did not. at all.
Day 371 (2/14); little Valentine's Day photo shoot with mom in her v-day sweater romper!
Likes:
  • company - she just lit up having family and friends over to the house for her birthday!
  • the ball pit - seriously - she would have stayed in it her entire party if we'd let her
  • taking her amoxicillin - she is thrilled when we give her a 'treat' of tasty pink medicine
  • new toys! she has been playing most with the little people airplane from her Gigi, the anywhere chair from her Mimi (her favorite climbing apparatus), the butterfly push walker from her Aunt Devon & Uncle Zach and the riding toy from the Mittelbronns
  • Her kitchen - favorite spot for SURE; so cute the morning after her party seeing her, Emma and Michael Velotas playing
  • Balls - all about throwing them, picking them up, banging them together - she has quite a throw - seriously!
  • Her activity area - she loves the toys in there - so fun to have another room for her to explore
  • Climbing the stairs
  • Garlic and honey chicken drumsticks; I made a big batch for us and she LOVES them - so fun to see her get into our food
Dislikes:
  • diaper changes are officially impossible
  • having her picture taken - she'd rather eat the camera and then cries when I don't give her the camera (or when I do give it to her but take it away once she tries to eat it - eek!)
  • being outside in the snow - she didn't seem to like it very much
  • teething - I dislike it, too! This sinus infection has been no fun either
Her Week in a Nutshell:
  • Saturday: FIRST BIRTHDAY! Big special day with family, and then a party with her family and friends - loved this day so much and wish it had gone by slower!
  • Sunday: Morning play with the Velotas kiddos; family walk with Mimi and out to eat with Mom, Dad and Mimi
  • Monday: 12-month pediatrician visit
  • Tuesday: snowed in - again. Day home with mom!
  • Wednesday: another day snowed in - this time with mom and dad!
  • Thursday: last day snowed in with mom and dad - WOW - lots of family time at home testing out her new toys
  • Friday: back to somewhat normal - errands with Mom and out to eat with Mom & Dad!

Beckett's First Allergy

So I woke up Beckett at 7 a.m. today to find this... baby girl covered in hives. Mostly on her neck, chest, and legs.
I immediately grabbed the paperwork from her 12-month visit on February 10, and assumed it was likely a reaction to the MMR vaccine as they indicated a rash may occur.

I called at exactly 8:30 a.m. when they opened and talked through it with the nurse and it seemed best to have it checked so I would know what it was just in case it was actually something else. Although to me it seemed pretty obvious to me that this was it as it was right in the window and all. We got a 9:10 a.m. appointment
Becks at doc - by this point it was spreading to her face, arm pits, ears, hands and feet
I was wrong. It was not a reaction to the vaccine although the doc said it did fit the timeline. Instead, it is definitely an allergic reaction. We talked through any new foods in the last 1-2 days, but there really weren't any. We looked through her chart and discussed that she just finished her amoxicillin from the February 10 visit (a 10-day course of treatment that wrapped up on February 20). That's when as he was clicking through the computer he let me know that while she may not actually be, she will now be labeled allergic to penicillin.

He said even though she has had amoxiciilin before with no problem (e.g., before the ski trip for the double ear infections) it can present any time, even if it's her 35th time on the medication. He said it usually shows up during treatment or within 1 - 2 days following and being that we just got done with treatment and no new foods were introduced she would be labeled as allergic to penicillin until she's older and we can do a skin test to confirm. At this point Beckett starts scratching the hives - they officially itch. Doctor gave her benadryl and then I took her home to nap and will give her benadryl ever 4 - 6 hours. CRAZY. Now i'm researching allergic to peniciilin to learn more about it. On the plus side, they checked her ears and they're all good, and she didn't have a fever yet! Also, she seems to be a baby who reacts tired to Benadryl vs. some who react "hyper, agitated and active" - oh my!
