Beckett's 12-Month Check Up

On February 10 just a couple of days after her birthday I took her in for her 12-month check-up. I like to go as soon as she hits, and this was the first appointment I could get! All went well - here are the highlights!

• We seem to have a somewhat small fry! Beckett has yet to hit 20 pounds (weighed in at 19 pounds 2 oz) putting her in the 42nd percentile. Her height has normalized and she's now in the 64th percentile. Her weight has historically been around there, but her height was always in the 95th, 98th, 97th, etc. - so maybe she won't completely tower over me one day!
• She had 3 shots which made her cry, and a finger prick which made her really cry. 
• We had her first spot vision screening test done which tests for difference in eye strength, pupil size deviations, blurred vision, farsightedness, nearsightedness and eye turns.  she scored perfectly normal - yay!
• The doctor was happy to hear that she is on sippy cup vs. bottle, feeding herself 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, transitioning away from formula to whole milk, clapping hands, waving hi/bye, and saying a few words.
• They checked her ears - all good. But did agree that she was still really congested/runny nose from our last visit. Last Thursday, they diagnosed her with a cold and major teething (girlfriend has 4 bottom teeth, 4 top teeth and all 4 molars just came in - eek). However, since she still had cold symptoms they said it was now elevated to a sinus infection and time for antibiotics - boo. So yes, for whoever is keeping track she is now sick for the third time (December: double ear infection; January: stomach infection; February: sinus infection). They said this is normal - dislike!
• He assured me that the following were normal:
• pulling on her ears
• coughing at night
• pulling on her hair
• thumb sucking
• not taking vitamins (no need since she takes veggies/fruits)
• banging her head on her crib (a new one; sigh!)
• He also said:
• she is fine to eat everything now - honey, nuts, egg whites, etc. She has had her first full egg now and loves it just as much as she did 'the yellow'
• we can do cow's milk, almond milk, or coconut milk - doesn't matter just as long as she drinks one to get calcium (we're doing cow's whole organic milk now - we'll see!)
• it's time to start brushing her teeth; now that she has more than 8 teeth because of the molars coming in we can start brushing - eek
• It's time to start saying NO if she hits us, bites us, pulls our hair, throws food, etc. and not smiling or laughing since it's not a game... so far she hasn't done any of this but throwing food - he says it's just around the corner! Lovely!

After our appointment it started... true story - girlfriend hit me when I was trying to take our picture to document the visit. SIGH. She is a toddler now, huh?

Week 52: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 358 (2/1); Sweet baby Beckett at bedtime after a fun family Saturday (love that she still has her signature swirl!)

Day 359 (2/2);  Beckett and Daddy - Becks taking one of her last bottles ever - sigh. Bittersweet for sure.

Day 360 (2/3); Little doll in blue after a morning at the gym - sometimes it's fun to dress her up!

Day 361 (2/4); another one of Beckett's last bottles - clearly I'm not quite ready to move past these bottles!

Day 362 (2/5); testing out the birthday outfit and high chair - don't want her to freak out on the big day!

Day 363 (2/6); Snagging a pic with my sweet 11-month-old before she's a big toddler haha

Day 364 (2/7);  Testing out the ballpit from friend Henry - she LOVES IT!

Likes:

• ball pits! and her big beach ball
• walking with her walkers - she takes OFF - can't get enough
• wonder woman - she carries around the little action figure from her Christmas gift from the Porters like it's going out of style
• "dancing" - when you clap your hands she squeals and holds on to something dancing
• being chased by her daddy - she freaks out and LOVES it
• eating her shoes; not wearing them, but eating them
• honey chicken - we gave her some of our drumsticks and OMG girl scoops it up and bangs the high chair for more
• giving high 5's - makes her smile HARD
• taking medicine - doc has us give her ibuprofen for the teething and she gets excited to see the plastic syringe - it's candy to her!
• broccoli - she's been eating it a lot more, along with hot carrots (doesn't care for them pureed... unless they're mixed with strawberries!)

Dislikes:

• having to wear shoes
• having to go down for naps - she'll be exhausted and put her thumb in her mouth and help you get her into her sleep sack and all is good until that door closes and then she's sad... for about 3 minutes until she's OUT.
• teething - wowza - she has 4 molars coming in strong

Her Week in a Nutshell:

• Saturday: Family day at home!
• Sunday: Afternoon with Dad while Mom ran errands!
• Monday: Toddler Room at the gym; grocery store trip (they gave her a balloon!); afternoon walk with Miss Sharon and Peyton
• Tuesday: Toddler Room at the gym
• Wednesday: Shopping with Mom for new birthday outfit!; visit to Meghan and Jay's to borrow accessories from friend Harper!
• Thursday: Not feeling well - off to pediatrician for what we thought was an ear infection but it turns out she has 4 molars coming in and a cold! :( Told to give ibuprofen for the next 3 days.
• Friday: Stayed at home watching mommy and daddy run around and clean and prepare for her big birthday party the next day!

My Birthday Hat

Beckett's Aunt Missy sent over the sweetest presents for Miss Beckett, including this adorable birthday hat. That morning at 7 a.m. when we went in to wake her up, we put on her first of many birthday outfits! This one included a sweet pink 'make a wish' onesie from Gap I bought before I met her, the white Hannah Anderson tutu her Gigi and Aunt Devon found that she wore for Halloween, and of course - the hat. She didn't like having it put on her, but once it was all girlfriend was laughing and squealing and climbing all over her new chair from her Mimi while we tried to take pictures. It was precious - thank you for this adorable hat, Missy!

Week 51: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 351 (1/25); Sweet sleepy Beckett just before bathtime

Day 352 (1/26); Happy Beckett loved her visit from Gigi, Aunt Devon and Dane

Day 353 (1/27); swinging in the cold weather - didn't mind at ALL! At least the sun was out!

Day 354 (1/28); standard Beckett these days always pulling up on me wanting a pick up. SO not used to this girl wanting to be held but I'll take it - love that sweet, silly face!

Day 355 (1/29); But I don't wanna go to bed! Cutie girl with wet curls before bedtime bottle 

Day 356 (1/30); Bathtime fun! (majorly teething on a little bath toy!)

Day 357 (1/31); standard wintertime Beckett cozy in her snowsuit with blanket and butterfly tucked into her car seat and stroller out on the go with mom!

Likes: 

• Bathtime
• Swinging
• Being held and watching every. single. thing you do with crazy interest (especially making eggs)
• Her kitchen
• Melon/honeydew - new breakfast addition along with her standard eggs, avocados, black beans and berries
• Company - she seriously lights up when we have people over and seems to enjoy playing with other kiddos - it's adorable, especially with cousin Dane!

Dislikes:

• Still diaper changes - they are nearly impossible these days (truly)
• Being fed - she much prefers to give herself the sippy cup then have you touch it/help/etc.
• Grapes - still not quite a fan; many more end up on the floor then in her tummy

Week 35: October 5 - 11; time with friends!; eight months old! milestone: first Auburn game

Week 36: October 12 - 18; first visit to Auburn; first game

Week 37: October 19 - 25; two mud-pie photo shoots; two park playdates; milestones: pulling up, feeding self much better - peas, bananas, etc. - it's going well!

Week 38: October 26 - Nov. 1; milestones: first Halloween; first slumber party with Gigi sans Mom & Dad 

Week 39: Nov. 2 - 8; lots of iPhone shots at home with Mom while Dad spent most of the week in St. Louis; milestone: 3 more teeth in on bottom

Week 40: Nov. 9 - 15; Ben's Birthday Party; Visit to Pink Pig; Visit to Auburn for UGA game; nine months old! milestone: 1 more tooth in on bottom - all 4 now!

Week 41: Nov. 16 - 22; Lots of indoor time and visits with friends and neighbors; visit from Mimi and a trip to Nordstrom to see ATC friends

Week 42:  Nov. 23 - 29; Two visits from Gigi; visit from Aunt Devon; visit to the Porters and the Martins  milestones: first Thanksgiving; takes steps while pushing walker

Week 43: Nov. 30 - Dec. 6; visit with the Martins for Thanksgiving; meeting bestie Peyton; Visit from Santa and Uncle Zach; first playdates at her house milestone: free standing for several seconds not holding onto anything with legs unlocked!

Week 44: Dec. 7 - 13; week at home with mom; visit to new gym while normal gym was renovated; visit from Peyton & Sharon ten months old!

Week 45: Dec. 14 - 20; visit from Monica; visit from Tyson; visit from Sharon & Peyton; Gift Exchange with Abby & Hanna milestone: first time getting sick - double ear infection :(; antibiotics

Week 46: Dec. 21 - 27; Beckett's first Christmas Eve & Christmas; visit to Jane & Charles; visit from Martins, Porters and Gigi

Week 47: Dec. 28 - Jan. 3; Saturday to Saturday ski trip; lots of 1:1 time with Mimi;  milestones: First Ski Vacation; First Flight; First time on Marta; First time to Colorado 

Week 48: Jan. 4 - 10; flight home to Atlanta; sick week; milestone: second time getting sick - viral intestinal infection aka stomach bug eleven months old!

Week 49: Jan. 11 - 17; lots of fun with new kitchen!
