A New Preview Shot From Joleen!

This one was from this morning when we wrapped up the House of Mia outfits! We left with the CUTEST new stuff - two pairs of leggings, one pair of bloomers and four headbands. We'll get her Sophie & Lili doll on Wednesday - eeee! Beckett really seemed to enjoy it, you can probably tell from the adorable picture Joleen sent over. :)

Preview Shot of Becks Modeling for House of Mia

So a fellow stay-at-home-mom in my mom's group was looking for babies to model some clothes! She is a photographer and is working with some local companies who need babies. She said that it's a non-paying job but you get to keep the photos and the clothes. I thought hmmm, this could be fun as we don't get to keep any photos of sweet Beckett when she models for the Kids II products (Baby Einstein, Taggies, Bright Starts, etc.).

So I sent in her photo and she let us know that they wanted Beckett for a House of Mia photoshoot, and confirmed that we get all digital copies as well as the outfit - FUN!

Then about 10 minutes later I heard back that they also want her for "one of the faces of a new print collaboration with Sophie + Lili!" So fun! I am so excited to have more pictures of Beckett - can we ever have enough pictures of our babies? I don't think so. :)

We did the first shoot today and it was super fun! Here is a preview photo - eeeeeeeee! (and no, I don't know that newborn and she wasn't there when we were there, but I love how she put this together to show the different products for babies of different ages!)

More to come for SURE but for now I'm so excited and really appreciate Joleen sharing this with me already!

I Touch My Toes

During Beckett's morning bottle today she began touching her toes - so cute! I'm loving those thick knit ruffle leggings - in the morning when she slept in a nightgown (vs. pants) I put them on her so she won't be cold! Thanks for these, Mimi!

Week 24: 7 Days of Beckett

Day 162 (7/20); Becks chilling at the pool at Vestavia Country Club in Birmingham during her visit to see her Mimi and Poppa
Day 163 (7/21); Beckett having cuddle time with her Mimi
Day 164 (7/22); In her favorite position - tummy time!
Day 165 (7/23); pretty in pink after her visit to the infant room at the gym - sweet girl!
Day 166 (7/24); Happy sweet Becks giving Dad big smiles during bath time
Day 167 (7/25); Beckett in her 'well adjusted' onsie from my chiropractor - so cute!
Day 168 (7/26); Slightly sleepy just-up-from-nap smiley baby girl, hanging out on the bed with her puppers - she loves trying to pet them (trying because they carefully zip away from her death grasp)
Likes:

  • Her sunglasses - I kinda worried she'd hate them but she didn't. In retrospect, she hates the sun so I guess it makes sense she would find these to be allies.
  • Her pups - she is REALLY getting interested in what they're doing and laughing a lot at their antics.
  • Rattles - she is shaking everything up and loves making things make noise.
  • Being upright - she loves this walker in the infant room at the gym - she likes to sit in it, suck on her fist/knuckle, smile, drool and watch the big kiddos
  • Teethers, especially her frozen wash cloths - they've been besties this week.
  • Peek-a-boo has been a big smile-maker this week, along with making noises (especially 'eating noises' like slurping) and mirror time (and of course the usuals: standing, flying, etc.)
  • Meeting new people - she seems very enthusiastic about new faces - they don't seem to scare her but instead interest her (perhaps this will change with age, although we hope not!)
  • Singing - her latest favorites are  'Hi, I'm Beckett' sung to the tune of 'Are You Sleeping', The Bumble Bee Song, Wheels on the Bus, This Little Light of Mine, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and You Are My Sunshine.
  • Having her dad pretend to eat her toes and feet - she laughs and laughs when he pretends to be a monster!
Dislikes:
  • Cold water (cried her little heart out when the cold pool water hit her toes - we'll need to work up to that)
  • Cuddling when tired (before her naps I tried several times to bundle up in a blanket in a chair and rock her and she was like, "leave me alone, lady - put me in my crib, turn on my sound machine and let me sleep!" This was said through uncomfortable squirming, whimpering and eye rubbing).
  • Carrots - she didn't seem very interested in them at all
Her Week in a Nutshell:
  • Saturday: went to the pool at VCC in Birmingham, AL, and visited with Vicki; spent most of the day at her grandparent's house; visited with Jeff and later with the Grahams
  • Sunday: spent the day with her Mimi; had a long, rainy car ride back to Atlanta
  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: visited the infant room at the gym and got to see Miss Shannon, her favorite, two days!
  • Monday: went to the grocery store - tried something new, putting the whole car seat into the buggy - it worked!
  • Friday: went to Petsmart twice to drop off and later pick up her fur siblings from their annual shots and exams.

Baby Gap's Major Sale

Now Beckett needs nothing. Truly. She has so many adorable clothes for the first year - we were really blessed by great family, friends and sales!

However, she is lacking in the 12+ month department. Clearly, we have 6 months to buy these clothes but it's SO much more expensive to buy it when it's in season. And every once in a while Gap has these flash sales - like 35% off of already-on-sale items. And I get these rewards, like $10 if you spend $50... So I had to get Beckett some '12 - 18 month' stuff on sale. I just had to. Right?

For $62 (including shipping & tax), we got all of this:
  • a chambray sun hat ($8; originally $17) - a bit of a splurge but her Janie and Jack white hat will be too small by the next sun season!
  • her 2nd Valentine's Day knit, one-piece outfit ($12; originally $35) - pricey for cute PJs but how sweet for her second V-day, just 6 days after her birthday!
  • an adorable embroidered chambray dress ($12; originally $30) - I would have paid $30 - classic!
  • Zebra PJs ($8; originally $25) - adorbs, and the same price as super-cute-but-cheaper brands like Carter's with this sale!
  • Skinny pants - purple ($8; originally $20) - good deal!
  • Skinny pants - denim ($5; originally $25) - insane deal!
  • Skinny pants - orange ($6; originally $20) - good deal!
  • a polka dot sleep romper ($6; originally $25) - see above - cheap for PJs!

So yes, I spent $62 and it will be delivered to my door, vs. what it would have cost had I paid retail: $197, with tax: $213. I paid $151 less. I mean REALLY.

Please, someone explain to me why anyone buys retail? It hurts my head. Can't wait to get all of her little clothes in - eeee!
