Beckett's First UGA Game

We headed over to Athens on Friday, Nov. 28, to spend the weekend with Austin's family at the condo and unexpectedly ended up going to the game! Austin's parents, Aunt, Uncle and brothers were all going and we intended to just watch it at the condo during her nap (a noon game). But Paul had 2 extra tickets through Mike, a close family friend, so we decided Austin would go. Then we decided let's all go, but we needed one more ticket for Beckett! Paul to the rescue again, buying her a ticket outside the stadium - so sweet. So we headed in and then realize no strollers allowed - sigh! And then Beckett started freaking out/having a tantrum - time for lunch - ah! Paul & Austin figured out the stroller and the minute we got in Beckett turned her frown upside down - she smiled from ear to ear, clapped hands constantly and you should have seen her face when Mike gave her a shaker - WOW. Wish we could have stayed longer, but she started crashing after the first quarter so we headed home for nap and she is still sleeping. Ha! So glad she got to support the dawgs and see the stadium - it was so fun to watch her have SO much fun! Unfortunately she wouldn't smile for the group shot with Mimi & Poppa but we did get lots of sweet pictures of her.

Week 94: 7 Days of Beckett

11/22; Becks celebrating her bestie Peyton's first birthday - cutie girls

• Wednesday: Toddler room at the gym; dad home early so family visit to dog park and out to eat!
• Thursday: Thanksgiving! Visit from Gigi, Aunt Devon, Uncle Zach & Dane; nap; visit to the big Martin get together; visit from Poppa, Mimi, Uncle Tyler and Uncle Elliot - busy, fun, family-filled day!
• Friday: Morning with dad; toddler room at the gym with mom; playtime with Uncle Tyler & Uncle Elliot; drive to Athens with Mom & Dad; big family group dinner at La Dolce Vita

Week 93: 7 Days of Beckett

11/15; B and Dad at the Sigma Chi tailgate - yes, it was freezing - the snow suit and boots arrived just in time!

11/16; me and my sweet B back at home in our cozy clothes - she is a teething mess and officially has more than a cold - I guesses sinus infection + ear infection

11/17; off to school! which turned into a crazy day whereby we went to the pediatrician for her (and were diagnosed with the above) AND I got hit with an intense stomach virus. OMG

11/18; Dad took this shot at Catch Air - they had a great daddy-daughter day of fun! They even bumped into Beckett's friend Bonnie and her mom, Maggie, at Catch Air, as well as we my gym/church friend Erin!

11/19; working on her squats - crazy girl is all about CHEESE and being silly

Her Week:

• Saturday: Day in Athens including a visit to the campus, to Elliot's fraternity tailgate and seeing so many family and friends back at the condo (she was most obsessed with Tyler and his friends - so cute!)
• Sunday: Morning in Athens; visit to the nursery to pick out Owen's tree; sick B - had to skip Finley's baptism - SAD!
• Monday: School in the morning; afternoon visit to pediatrician; sick mom so dad came home early (and yes i'm still scared I scarred her for life by getting so sick in front of her - eek - totally unavoidable!)
• Tuesday: Day with dad, including a fun visit to Catch Air
• Wednesday: School in the morning and afternoon with mom who was still a bit under the weather :(
• Thursday: Toddler room at the gym; evening with dad while mom interviewed for a job and had dinner with Melissa
• Friday: Toddler room at the gym with mom; afternoon playdate with Reagan & Sydney

Our Girl Today

We just took these after church today but I love them so, so much I had to post them! She now says "cheese" and smiles extra big for the camera. We simply cannot love her more than we do and are so grateful to be chosen as her parents. Hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday. It's raining hard today - time to rest and relax at home.

Quick Update

I just wanted to post a quick update to let you all know that we're doing okay. It's been exactly a month - some days it feels like it was yesterday and others it feels like it's been at least 6 months. It's weird. We are staying busy. If ever there is a good time for something awful to happen, it's the holidays. We went to Athens this past weekend and had a fun time with the Martins as always. We're preparing for Thanksgiving holidays and lots of fun with our families. We're getting ready for the Christmas holidays. We're going skiing with the Martins over New Year's. So much to look forward to and SO much to keep us busy and preoccupied.

Speaking of things to keep me busy, I accepted a job. As you probably know I haven't worked since leaving AutoTrader. However, an opportunity came along thanks to my old boss at AutoTrader turned bestie Melissa. AutoTrader.com's parent company is Cox Enterprises and, long story short, they needed a new Executive Editor for their quarterly printed publication, Inside Cox. At AutoTrader, one of my responsibilities was Editor of its monthly publication, so this was a natural fit. Melissa put me up for it and I can't be more grateful to her for thinking of me and, knowing her, pushing them to hire me! I had a phone interview, and then when I met her Thursday for my 'happy hour interview' the second I got there she told me the job was mine if I wanted it, so that was nice. They're expecting it to be about 50 hours per month and ALL working from home, so I can work on it while B is at Mother's Morning Out, during her naps and/or a bit in the evenings or weekends if needed - we'll see. I'm really excited about this opportunity. Had she reached out one week earlier I would have regretfully declined, but the timing made it seem like it was meant to be and it won't take away from my care of Beckett so it's such a win-win.

Lastly, we picked out a tree in memory of Owen. We went to the nursery searching for a dogwood, but found this beautiful bloodgood japanese maple tree. It will be planted in the front yard on Tuesday. I'm really looking forward to seeing it here, and plan to have a garden stone monogrammed for the base of the tree.

Anyway, that is the update on us. I hope this finds you all well and that you're enjoying the pictures of Beckett - I'm trying to keep the blog updated despite her having a sinus infection/ear infection and me getting attacked by a tummy bug this week - OY. Talk to you soon.

11/8; Santa and holiday pictures with Uncle Zach at Dane's Grandma Vivian's House

11/9; crazy hair, don't care

11/10; girlfriend made this at school and it was SO cute! All the kids had them on when I picked her up and she wouldn't take hers off! She even wore it to sushi dinner that night! LOL

11/11; grocery store with a fussy girl called for her first time in the 'car' shopping cart! She loved facing out and turning the wheel - she waved to EVERYONE!

11/12; and it's official - she has a cold and feels badly. Poor girl! Post-nap snack and Disney for sure.

• Friday:  Visit to Athens; left town around 10 a.m.; B got out of her crib for the first time (ah!); and didn't nap (ah!); we had lunch with E at The Last Resort, visited UGA's campus, rode the gameday bus with Mimi & Poppa, went out to eat with the big group at La Dolce Vita then crashed hard!
